‘Abdu’l-Baha and Kate Carew
As commemorations of ‘Abdu’l-Baha’s historic visit to North America continue throughout the United States and Canada, we are still finding stories, articles, and videos about the people who met ‘Abdu’l-Baha in 1912.
One was journalist Kate Carew, who on April 19, 1912 accompanied ‘Abdu’l-Baha to the Bowery in New York City and wrote about the visit for the New York Tribune, including caricatures she drew of people waiting to meet Him.
You can read more about Kate at TwainQuotes.com and watch a short video interview with her granddaughter at the site of her grave in Oakland, California. There is nothing about her meeting with `Abdu’l-Baha at either site, but they do provide background into understanding the personality and interests of this remarkable woman.
