Revamped Site Streamlines Wilmette Institute Experience

From The American Bahá’í

A new On-Line Bahá’í Learning Center, launched January 30, 2008, makes the Wilmette Institute’s revamped website an even more powerful tool for on-line learning about the Bahá’í Faith. Several steps up in sophistication from the previous version, the stately blue-and-gold site at features:

  • Quick links to lists of upcoming courses and faculty, the latest news on the Institute, registration tools, tuition, and financial aid information.
  • Information on study options, including details on participating as an individual or through group study.
  • On-line credit card payment for a Wilmette Institute e-learning course.

But once a student registers and logs in to the site, the site’s Learning Center opens up with one-click access to the study page for that student’s course. Powered by Moodle, a course-management system used by thousands of universities worldwide, the Learning Center offers students and faculty an easy-to-use space for class assignments, quizzes, workshops, and lectures. Its tools include “wiki” pages, chat rooms, discussion forums, surveys, and capability for PowerPoint presentations and audio lectures.

“With its new website and its new Learning Center delivery system, the Wilmette Institute aims to improve the quality of its courses over the next year,” said Robert Stockman, director of the Wilmette Institute.
