Wilmette Institute Faculty Member Wendi Momen Honored with an MBE
Wendi Momen, a faculty member for the Wilmette Institute, was honored in June when Queen Elizabeth’s birthday honors list for 2014 was released. Dr. Wendi Momen received an MBE, a member of the Order of the British Empire “For her services to the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women and to the community in Bedfordshire. (Northill, Bedfordshire).” Wendi tells us that the medal will be presented to her by a senior royal at the Palace within the next seven months when the small group to which she has been assigned is called for the presentation.
Wendi went on to say that Bahá’ís perform service to their community selflessly and without any expectation of recognition or reward. Hence she finds it “very humbling to have received this award.” She is accepting it in the names of her mother, Carol Allen, and her grandmother, Ann Morris, “who both gave her the gift of the Faith, from which everything else flowed.”
Wendi, who is the author of twelve books, is well known to Wilmette Institute learners as a faculty member for a number of courses: Becoming a Couple: Preparing for Marriage; Building Unity Toward Marriage: Preparing for Marriage; Communicating and Consulting as a Couple: Strengthening Your Marriage; Engaging in Parental Consent for Marriage: Preparing for Marriage; and Making the Most of Your Time Together: Strengthening Your Marriage.
